GREETINGS FROM ACTING DIRECTOR RENEE BERGERON
Dr. Bergeron brought greetings from the staff and students. New at the campus this year will be 400 registered students with improvements in research at the Campus. The Campus is wireless except for the Fraser Building. The Sound system and the footings at the A.M. Barr Arena have been improved. Renovations to the Bull Test Station for the Dairy Barn are on-going with many thanks to the Alumni and Foundation for all their help. A new Diploma is being launched in Agr Food Leadership. The staff has met with the principals from Ottawa High Schools to let them know what is being taught at the Campus. Hope to have an interactive weekend to help promote the equine course. Many research projects are on going on campus. 5 to 7 researchers are now working on many varied projects. Dr. Bergeron discussed these projects as she does research as well. Asked for questions only one. With the funds being raised for the Robotic Milking Machine does the Campus have the 60 cows needed? No, but once the funds have been achieved the U of G will get the cows.
CHEQUE PRESENTATION
Doug Dulmage presented Dr. Bergeron with a cheque from the Alumni for $x,xxx.xx as the second installment of our 5 year $xx,xxx.x xcommitment to the Dairy Barn.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Actual report will be in the book with the minutes. The fiscal year end has changed to agree with the new AGM date from April 30 to June 30. There is a net surplus this year as we received student membership fees as was voted on two years ago. Last AGM had a small loss but we are not doing it for a profit. Contact II cost $x,xxx.xx for printing and with postage will be over $xx,xxx.xx. Printed 5,000 copies and with the new bylaws we will need to order more as more will be needed to send to the students as they graduate. Year ’69 gave $xxx.xx towards Contact II.
The Vests are selling well.
Last year’s auction raised $x,xxx.xx.
Doug is applying for the GST rebate again this year.
With the surplus of funds we will have to donate 3% or $x,xxx.xx to Student Awards in September. We need to name the Auditors for the coming year. Both Ross Taylor ’50 and Malcom Graham’51 have let their names stand again.
MOTION
Moved by Hans Vink '68 and seconded by Carol Wallace "69 to name Ross Taylor ’50 and Malcolm Graham ’51 as auditors for the coming year. Carried.
QUESTIONS FROM THE FLOOR
Who reimburses the year rep the cost of mailing out the honour year information? Some year reps raise money at reunion weekend from their classmates to cover the costs.
Any changes to your year information must be sent to Sue Johnston so address and name changes can be forwarded to Guelph. Year rep role is to solicit or recruit replacement if needed and collect money for mail outs from class mates.
