International Plowing Match and Rural Expo

Alumni President Hans Vink on the left with the Junior Plowmen age 16 to 20. Hans presented each one with a commemorative picture frame, in memory of Garett Allen who would have been ploughing here this week had his life not been taken from him suddenly on January 10 of this year.Garett's grandfather, Ken Allen, was a 1948 Kemptville Grad and his father, Scott, a 1982 grad.

Queen of the Furrow finalists are Heather Ferrier of Lanark, Ontario Queen of the Furrow Courtney Connors of Prescott, first runner up Janette Hammell of Bruce, Cassandra Chornoboy of Wellington and second runner up Ashley Duern of Peel Dufferin.

The Queen of the Furrow program dates back 50 years. The purpose is to become involved in agricultural activities in their communities. The Queen of the Furrow is chosen on the basis of appearance, deportment, interviews, public speaking and plowing ability. Each queen was presented with an alumni commemorative photo frame.
